Immigration Judges

by Kevon Aikens

Have you heard about Trump's immigration policy? Many 2024/2025 immigration judges are ex-ICE workers and military lawyers. Do you think that's okay? If not, you're not alone. People are enraged with how immigrants are being treated under Trump's policies.

I feel that immigration policies like birthright citizenship, which has been in place for 150 years, should stay the same. Most of these people are coming for better lives, so they should be allowed in after a background check. The few who aren't coming here to better their lives don't deserve to be here but they do get here and that's what's forcing our government to try to remove all of them. Others feel the same way I do. I asked a friend how they feel about immigrants and they told me “I don't care that they're here, it's just the ones who are causing trouble. Robbing people etc.” Another friend of mine said pretty much the same thing. He stated that “I don't mind when immigrants come here but there's some that come and do crazy things. I've seen two immigrants on a moped snatch someone's phone and stuff like that can lead to bigger crimes. Those immigrants don't deserve to be here.”

If we can be more fair when it comes to good immigrants maybe a lot of them won't just try to sneak into the country. We also have to look at who's in charge. The way it's looking, Trump is trying to clear the country from immigrants, mostly immigrants of color (specifically from Central America, South America, Mexico, Middle East, etc). However, he's letting in white South African migrants. How is this fair? I feel that race plays a big part in this because he dislikes people of color. Many of these immigrants come here for a better life, which improves everyone’s life. He is treating people of color as illegal immigrants. Trump is using the world's largest prison, CECOT in El Salvador, to put immigrants and gang members in for the rest of their lives. These gangs are Ms13, Ms18 and other cartels from Venezuela , Mexico etc. After learning all of this do you feel that the actions and feelings of the people protesting Trump's policies are justified?
