Forsyth Satellite Academy is a transfer high school for students who want a new, more inclusive and personalized setting, ensuring that they receive the individualized attention and support they need. The school stresses learning in a small, student-centered community where "growth and effort lead to achievement and success." As a New York Standards Performance Consortium school, we have received special permission to substitute performance based assessment tasks (PBATs) for Regents exams. Students are required to only take the English Regents exam.
To enhance student learning, Forsyth has formed partnerships with CUNY colleges, DCTV, CAMBA, Facing History and Ourselves, and the Henry Street Settlement.
These projects require significant instruction and preparation, high level reading, writing, thinking, revision, and presentation skills. Students demonstrate subject mastery through a presentation to a panel, indicating readiness for college. Here are some amazing samples from our students:
Global Human Rights: Qatar
Discrimination Towards Muslim Women in Germany and France
College & Career Readiness
Through our Family Group Advisory, students explore their strengths, interests, and the world of work. They develop a portfolio and create their post-secondary plans with the help of their advocate counselor and guidance counselor. While all students will apply to at least one college in their senior year, some may opt for vocational programs, the military, or start their careers after graduation.
Our graduates have attended and got college acceptances to SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Stony Brook, Pratt Institute, and earned scholarships to City College and Brooklyn College. Some of our alumni are successful small business owners and serve our community. We are exceptionally proud of our students!
